InPlay Inc is a fabless semiconductor company whose mission is to provide highly scalable, low-latency, low-power wireless communications technologies that unlock the vast potential of the VR/AR, healthcare and wireless industrial IoT markets. InPlay Inc specializes in wireless and mobile communication systems with unique technologies in RF, analog mixed-signal circuits, and low-power circuit design. The company has a research and development center in Irvine, California, with operations and business development in both the United States and China.
橙群微電子的聯合創始人兼CEO 吳群在拜訪客戶時，意識到市場上對惡劣射頻環境中許多節點之間低延時無線通信的需求有很大的痛點，需求尚未得到滿足。最初的需求出現在新興的AR/VR市場，后來發現此技術可以被擴展應用到包括從游戲和娛樂到工業機器人控制，再到教育和醫療保健的各種潛在應用。2017年他邀請了在通信系統、數字設計、射頻設計、軟件設計、營銷和運營領域擁有豐富專業知識的半導體行業老將們一起在美國加州組建了公司InPlay。2019年8月，InPlay于中國上海浦東新區臨港成立公司總部，設立上海橙群微電子有限公司。
從支持多個節點間低延時無線通信的關鍵知識產權SMULL技術開始，橙群微電子現在正在構建一個大的產品系列組合，以解決工業物聯網、智能家居和零售、游戲配件和醫療健康領域那些尚有痛點的需求。
